Staying organized

It has always been really difficult for me to find the right balance to learning. I am always jumping between two extremes. I either focused too much on something I already understood or focused too little on something difficult I was trying to learn.

How do you learn?

I learn by focusing on the main topic when I write notes. It has the net positive effect of reinforcing your understanding. You knew what you knew and it would show in your notes. Staying organized was the hard part. My lists included things I needed to do and things I wanted to do with a hint of impractically from time to time.

What did you do?

Keeping the lists small and actionable is what works best for me. It kept me from hoarding notes and prevented my lists from becoming unmanageable. It would also create a positive feedback loop that helped me build momentum for the next thing.

Sticky notes

Putting emphasis on DOING instead of wanting is a good way to get those wins you need to stay motivated. Whether it’s self improvement or learning new skills, making it a habit to follow through is the best way to stay on track.
